Discover La Guada Mas

If you spend enough time around Makati’s food scene, you start to notice which places quietly build a loyal following. La Guada Mas at Joya Lofts & Towers, Plaza Dr, Makati City, 1200 Metro Manila, Philippines, is one of those spots. Tucked inside a residential and commercial hub, it doesn’t scream for attention, yet it consistently draws in diners who know good Mexican and Latin-inspired comfort food when they taste it.

The first time I visited, it was on a weekday evening after a long client meeting nearby. The restaurant’s location makes it convenient for office workers and residents in the area. Makati is known as the financial heart of Metro Manila, and according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, the city has one of the highest concentrations of corporate offices in the country. That explains why places like this thrive on steady lunch and dinner crowds. From the outside, the vibe feels relaxed and inviting. Inside, the atmosphere is warm, casual, and perfect for both quick bites and slow dinners with friends.

The menu leans heavily into Mexican classics, with burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and rice bowls that feel hearty without being overwhelming. I ordered their signature burrito stuffed with seasoned beef, cilantro rice, black beans, and fresh salsa. The portion size was generous, easily shareable, though I didn’t end up sharing. What stood out was the balance. The spice wasn’t overpowering, and the ingredients tasted fresh rather than overly processed. That attention to freshness aligns with what food safety experts like the World Health Organization emphasize about proper food handling and ingredient quality. While you can’t see the kitchen, the consistency of flavors across multiple visits suggests a well-managed process behind the scenes.

Friends of mine who live in Joya Lofts regularly drop by for takeout. One of them swears by the chicken quesadilla, saying the grilled tortilla has just the right crisp-to-soft ratio. Another prefers the taco platter, which allows you to mix fillings and toppings. That flexibility on the menu makes it easy for groups to order based on personal taste. It also reflects a growing trend in urban dining where customization plays a big role in customer satisfaction.

Online reviews echo similar sentiments. Many diners highlight the friendly staff and fast service, especially during peak hours. In Makati, where time is often limited between meetings, speed matters. During my lunch visit, our food arrived in under 15 minutes, which is impressive considering the number of tables occupied. The staff were attentive without hovering, checking in just enough to make sure everything was right.

Nutritionally speaking, Mexican cuisine can sometimes get a bad reputation for being heavy. However, the way dishes are structured here allows for smarter choices. You can opt for grilled proteins, add more vegetables, or go lighter on sauces. Registered dietitians often point out that balanced meals come down to portion control and ingredient variety. With rice, beans, lean meats, and fresh toppings, many items on the menu offer a decent mix of protein, fiber, and carbs when chosen thoughtfully.

The location at Joya Lofts & Towers also adds to the overall experience. The area feels safe and accessible, with parking options nearby and easy access from major roads in Makati. Whether you’re coming from Ayala Avenue or Rockwell, it’s a manageable drive. That convenience factor shouldn’t be underestimated. In a city known for traffic, a restaurant’s accessibility can make or break repeat visits.

What I appreciate most, though, is consistency. Over several visits across different months, the flavors, portion sizes, and service standards have remained steady. That reliability builds trust. Of course, like any casual dining spot, it can get busy, and waiting times might stretch during peak hours. Still, the overall experience makes it worth planning around.

For anyone exploring food options in Makati, especially around Plaza Drive, this place offers a solid mix of flavor, convenience, and value. Whether you’re craving a fully loaded burrito, a quick taco fix, or a relaxed dinner with friends, it fits naturally into the city’s vibrant dining landscape.

  • On top of the list like Pizzulu. The food was great! They were delicious. Something you can eat again whenever you feel like it. It’s something you’d crave for. Loved everything we had, I just did not like the drink I ordered, but everything else was good. The guac is my fave!

  • La Guada knows how to deliver an authentic Mexican food experience! This small and cozy spot next to Refinery in Rockwell is perfect for small groups who just want to hang out over birrias and beers. Unlike most Mexican restaurants that go for a colorful setup, La Guada keeps it simple with red and black interiors that create a laid-back vibe for casual Mexican dining. We enjoyed everything we tried here — birrias, guacamole, carnitas, quesadillas, and even their regular fries! We loved the spiced and seasoned beef toppings, generous cheese, and tasty sauces and dips — plus, they serve your orders really quick. It was also our first time trying Moritz (Barcelona beer) and Corona Twist beers, which gave us another reason to come back again!

  • Service was great, the waiters were tentative to fill up our water and was clear with expectations on how long the food would take (not long, just setting expectations). Food was great. Good portions. Quite a small restaurant so do make a reservation ahead of time.

  • Casual Mexican spot in Rockwell specializing in hearty birria tacos. Flavors felt more comforting to the Filipino palate than authentic but our dining experience was pretty enjoyable nonetheless.

  • Such a pleasant surprise from La Guada Mas! Tala personally visited and brought complimentary tacos, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. She was incredibly warm, professional, and thoughtful, truly reflecting the top-notch service this brand stands for. The tacos were delicious, and the gesture itself made a lasting impression. Exceptional service like this really sets La Guada Mas apart. Highly recommended!

  • Cravings satisfied at La Guada. If you want mexican food, this is the place to go. Love their burrito and the dirty beef birria. For the burrito, it’s flavorful and the wrap wasn’t thick. The rice inside is soft and there’s a perfect combination of meat and beans. It comes with 3 sauces (salda verde, lime, chipotle) but it’s better if you’ll still request for spicy sauce to level up the taste. For birria, there’s really a generous amount of beef. Love the taste, not too salty, and satisfying. It’s also better if you add spicy stuff in it. They gave us complimentary nachos, which is good. However, few selections for the happy hour haha. The only thing I don’t like i don’t like about this is I can’t choose my seat! :( they didn’t give us the couch and they said it’s reserved, but we finished and no people showed up. The place isn’t that big too. But overall, will still go back and definitely try the other food.
